Synopsis

An action role-playing game set on the fictional volcanic Mediterranean island of Faranga, ruled by the ruthless High Inquisitor Mendoza. The unnamed player character, shipwrecked on the island, follows Mendoza's instructions to enter a temple at the heart of the erupting volcano — home to ancient beings known as Titans, which Mendoza is trying to control to strengthen his own power. The story unfolds across four chapters with multiple branching paths driven by the player's faction choices among Harbor Town, the Bandit Camp and the Monastery of mages and scholars.

Notizen aus der Produktion

More than 200,000 copies sold in Germany alone. Reception was largely positive, with praise for gameplay, graphics and voice acting; the original Xbox 360 port was the main point of criticism. The series continues in Risen 2: Dark Waters (2012) and Risen 3: Titan Lords (2014).
